Madi Girl Power is a skill and capacity-building project tailored for high school girls (15 selected students) at Jana Jiwan School in Kharkatta, Madi 8, Chitwan, Nepal under a Danish non-profit organization, ‘Jysk landsbyudvikling i Nepal’. Emphasizing women’s empowerment, the project offers training in practical skills, focusing on career development and social awareness. Our project strives to create a nurturing environment where girls can learn and flourish without societal constraints. Its primary goal is to improve the confidence of young women through various training sessions, propelling their careers forward. Following a successful year in 2021-2022, the project is embarking on its second year and is currently seeking a local coordinator who is based in Chitwan.

Jysk landbyudvikling i Nepal (JLIN) is a Danish non-profit organization working in Nepal since 2011. There are different projects (Health, Education/School, Infrastructure and Income generation) running through JLIN and its partner organization in Nepal called MIISDP (Madi Integrated Inclusive Sustainable Development Project).

Position: Local Coordinator (Female)
Duty Station: Jana Jiwan School, Kharkhatta, Madi, Chitwan
Part-time position (weekly 7-10 hrs)
Salary: According to qualification and negotiable (lunch and transportation fee will be provided)

Who is a local coordinator?
A local coordinator holds the utmost responsibilities within the project, primarily concerning planning and management. She must efficiently prioritize tasks, and adeptly juggle management, coordination, and administrative duties. Collaborating closely with the Denmark-based team, the local coordinator assumes leadership of both the project and the team in Nepal. Furthermore, she is anticipated to demonstrate initiative by fostering new ideas and forging collaborations with external entities, such as organizations or companies. With a proactive demeanor, the local coordinator takes ownership of the project, driving it towards greater heights.

 Qualifications:

  1. Minimum bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  2. Fluent English language skills, both verbal and written
  3. Management and coordination skills
  4. Solid communication and computer skills (MS Office, MS Excel, Google Drive)
  5. Ability to maintain public relations and stakeholder management
  6. Previous relevant experience would be desirable
  7. For candidates based in Chitwan only

Job description:

  1. Travel to Madi in every session (Mostly Fridays) and be present in all the training/meetings/workshops
  2. Participate in the recruitment process of staff members and students along with the Project Manager
  3. Manage logistics and resources for the entire project year
  4. Submit monthly reports and attend online meetings to report to the project manager
  5. Supervise trainers, students and mentors
  6. Plan schedules, and handle administrative tasks including managing monthly expenditures
  7. Submit expenditure bills to the partner organization’s treasurer every month
  8. Serve as the main contact person for the project in Nepal
  9. Maintain records of overall finances and payments
  10. Manage stakeholders including the school, local partner organization (MIISDP) and the parents of the students
  11. Attend regular meetings and deliver tasks within deadlines
  12. Perform ad-hoc tasks if required
